Santa Monica
Everclear
1995

Oh baby, do I have a surprise for you.  Well, let's cover the song first:  it's great, this is perfect post-grunge, mid-90s rock (could've chosen a Silverchair song instead, which reminds me - Ana's Song....very underrated, my friends).  In my mind this will forever be a beach song ("We can live beside the ocean"), always remind me of Southern California (Santa Monica, duh), and it's just all around great.

Which brings me to... so, after graduating high school and before going to college we spent some of that summer making "music videos" by lip syncing songs in my backyard with some fake instruments and some made-up instruments (like using a set of plastic buckets for drums).  We called the name of the band "Chad's Goons," after two guys who... oh, nevermind that part of the story doesn't matter anymore (but the story overall really matters).  I think we did like 3-4 songs over a couple nights; this is how 18-year-olds were spending time on a Tuesday in the summer of 1995.

Fast forward to the summer of 1998.  I'm back from my two-year mission, we literally get the "band" back together.  This time we are armed with a budding filmmaker, Donna Majik Show, who not only captures the brilliance on tape but this time we decide to actually edit together actual music videos to a few songs.

And, well, you guessed it folks.  We dug this puppy out of the deep, deep (deep!) archives for all of our fans.  We knew that 25 years later this would be needed, and, without further adieu, enjoy Chad's Goons "covering" Santa Monica.

(Bonus points if you made it all the way to the end watching this cringe.)

Other Songs Considered:
Nah, they had other good songs but nothing that ever came close to this one. If Chad's Goons would've covered those they would've been amazing too, though.
