Hallelujah, I Love Her So
Ray Charles
1956
Let’s go back in time, shall we? I mean, way, way back! We’re almost going back like Marty McFly in the D’Lorean on 1.21 gigawatts for this little number - almost 70 years. Oh baby, I love me some Ray Charles. Could’ve chosen a lot of songs from this guy’s catalog. All of his stuff is just timeless. What a voice, what a maestro on the keys. Just a legend. But the rules say we can only pick one, so I’m going with Ella’s favorite which of course then has to be my favorite (a repeated request from Ella on road trips and for good reason). This is big band at its finest, just a blissful song from the 1950s as though there was not a care in the world. This is the oldest song on the Top 100 but certainly every bit as worthy for inclusion.
